Rhetoric is the art of discourse, an art that aims to improve the facility of speakers or writers who attempt to inform, persuade, or motivate particular audiences in specific situations. In my portfolio, this section is the portion that consists of my in-class writing assignments. This exercise and assignment that is given to us to do does not take a whole lot of class time, but we are also allowed to write outside of class as well. We wrote about anything, and everything. As in how we felt like class was that day, or what we have all learned, and it is just a broad and vast various of  things that we are allowed to write about in our journal entries which I thought was a good way to have our thoughts and experiences flow better to write about.

Through much reading, writing and analysis, including discussion, I improved my abilities to analyze readings, lectures, and presentations. We read several novels throughout the semester. I would do each reading, and while taking notes I would look for any themes and motifs I saw and also be conscious of elements such as tone. Class discussions were very helpful. When everyone contributed, we all learned new things we would have overlooked. For example some books were vague about certain plotlines. I would overlook a certain aspect of the story, and someone else would bring it up in discussion. Rhetoric is an interesting and essential part of writing.

This is the preferred writing environment for me.
